The Baptist Church, Kilmington. What To Expect
... you’ll be made to feel right at home!

Coming to church for the first time can be a little daunting, especially if you don't know what to expect and if you don’t know anyone. At The Baptist Church Kilmington, we welcome and value EVERYONE – All Ages. All Stories. All Backgrounds. We want your time with us to be positive and worthwhile.

Our services begin at 10:30am, but our doors are open from 9:45am. On a Sunday morning, you will be greeted by our friendly Welcome Team in the foyer, who will be there to assist you, answer any immediate questions you might have, and show you to a seat where you will feel comfortable and relaxed. You will be given a News Sheet which details the activities taking place in the week that follows.

What does our Sunday gathering look like?
Every Sunday is unique, but our mornings together usually involve singing, praying and sharing. We celebrate special occasions together and share news of upcoming events. The service is centred around God’s word, and each week there is a main reading from the Bible. Our pastor or a guest speaker will then speak on the text, in order to help us to understand, to apply it to our lives today, and be inspired.

If you have children with you, there will be an age appropriate group for them to join during the service if they wish, where they will learn and have fun with their peers. A crèche is also available for babies and infants so that parents can relax and enjoy the service. There are baby changing facilities in our disabled toilet. The children and young people are an important part of our church family and so we like to get them involved whenever possible, and want them and their parents to feel relaxed.

How long does church last?
Our time together usually lasts about and hour and fifteen minutes. We aim to finish the service by 11.45 a.m.

What happens afterwards?
Everyone is invited to stay for refreshments after the service so that we can chat and get to know one another better. There are also various people who will be available to pray with you if you'd like, including our pastor and our prayer team.

What should I wear?
That's simple. We are a relaxed church and there is no dress code. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

How can I find out more about the church?
The Welcome Team will be able to give you a Welcome Pack telling you lots of information about our church. They'll also be happy to answer any questions you might have.  Our website will keep you informed of all that’s going on and will highlight special events. The calendar is kept up to date with details about weekday events.

If you want to share your email address with us, fill out the form in the Welcome Pack or send your contact details to admin@baptistchurchkilmington.org so you can be sent weekly news updates.

Accessibility?
We want everyone to be able to enjoy church. Our modern building is wheelchair accessible. We also offer services to those with impaired vision and hearing. There are two disabled parking spaces close to the main entrance and a disabled washroom inside. If there is anything else we can do to make your visit with us more comfortable, just speak to a member of the Welcome Team.

Parking?
We have a large car park at the front of our building. You are also welcome to use the village hall car park next door when ours is full.

Sunday Morning Ignite Groups

All our young people come into the service initially. We love seeing them worship and have fun, and we seek to engage them and include them while they are with us. We understand that young people sometimes make noise, and move around, and this is perfectly ok. We want both them and their parents/carers to feel at home and comfortable. After about 20 minutes, the young people are invited to leave for their age appropriate groups.
